Reverts - Converts to Islam

To prevent disputes regarding the disposal of a body at the time of death, the Statutory Declaration Form (see link below) has been established. A revert to Islam can simply complete this Declaration, which asserts that the treatment of their body should adhere to Islamic principles, and submit it to a solicitor or local mosque. This document can then be presented if there is a challenge regarding the body’s disposal.
The Declaration includes important stipulations, such as the prohibition of cremation, the requirement for proper Ghusl before burial, and the request for a Janazah prayer to be conducted. It also specifies that the body must be interred in a Muslim cemetery. Additionally, individuals may include a clause indicating their wish to avoid an autopsy unless legally required.
It is important to note that attending the Janazah prayer and burial of a Muslim is considered Fardh E Kifaayah, a communal religious obligation. If this duty is fulfilled by a sufficient number of Muslims, the rest of the community is absolved of this responsibility. However, if no one discharges this obligation, the entire Muslim community is deemed jointly accountable in the eyes of Allah.
